Scarlett, Eva, and Sandra: Where Was Your Style Last Night?
Celebrity breakups are nothing if not devastating (we're still recovering from the demise of Jake Gyllenhal and Taylor Swift). But there's one upside to an A-lister’s split: the breakover.
Case in point: After her 2006 divorce, Reese Witherspoon practically wrote the "Breakover Playbook" when she showed off sexy new bangs and a trimmer figure at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards. And she's not the only star who looked better after a breakup. When Anne Hathaway's boyfriend was convicted of fraud, the actress used it as an opportunity to change up her hair and makeup, thus kicking off a world tour of hotness.
So can you blame Usmagazine.com for having high expectations for newly single stars Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria and Sandra Bullock at this years Golden Globes? Yet, sadly these ladies looked more "meh" than mesmerizing.
Other than attending the MTV Movie Awards in June, Sandra Bullock, 46, hasn't made a major awards show appearance since her split with Jesse James. We were hoping for a super-sexy, slit-up-the-there dress last night, and instead we got a nude-tone Jenny Packham gown. At least she changed up her 'do with blunt bangs and a darker chocolate shade.
Scarlett Johansson must've gotten the same memo as Bullock because she showed up in a similar a shimmery Elie Saab gown, plus a "Bride of Frankenstein" updo. Not cute. The actress, 26, has some serious bombshell curves and we would've loved to see her show them off in a more daring, youthful dress.
Eva Longoria also played it safe on the red carpet. The soon-to-be-divorced star, 35, admitted via Twitter that she was struggling to keep her spirits up, which may explain her somber choice in attire. The star, who usually opts for bright colors, sported an all-black Zac Posen gown with a simple updo.
Our advice to this lonely hearts club: Call up January Jones. That girl seems to know a thing or two about making jaws drop.
