Katie Holmes hits the Broadway stage once more next month in Dead Accounts -- and in a new TV ad for the comedy, she gets silly and affectionate with costar Norbert Leo Butz, who plays her brother in the play.
Wearing a yellow cardigan and skinny jeans, with her trademark chestnut tresses in loose waves, the 33-year-old actress gives Butz a hug, makes wacky faces and nearly falls off her chair.
Holmes and her castmates discussed the play in front of a live audience on Thurs. Oct. 25, where Holmes seemed to channel Suri, her 6-year-old with ex-husband Tom Cruise, making a range of over-the-top expressions -- grumpy, menacing, giggly and more.
"I thought it would be so challenging. Because I was so young when I started working, I was always trying to catch up," the former Dawson's Creek star explained of taking the role.
And Holmes added that she's thrilled to play such a fierce female in her post-divorce comeback.
"Finally I get to yell! What I really loved about this character was she's strong underneath it all," she explained. I like her values, I like that she's trying to figure it all out and really cares for her family."
"Katie is in a great place," a source told Us Weekly of the star. "She's an amazing woman who has gone through a lot. She's happier than before and dotes on Suri."
