Sandra Bullock is getting raw and real for her upcoming flick, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.
For her first film project in over a year and a half, Bullock chose the Warner Bros. flick -- costarring Tom Hanks -- based on author Jonathan Safran Foer's acclaimed novel. She'll appear in the film as the mother of a nine-year-old boy, Oskar, who loses his father on 9/11.
In the just-released trailer, Jeopardy! champ Thomas Horn (as Oskar) grapples with the death of his father (Hanks) and journeys around New York City to find the meaning behind a key that used to belong to his dad.
Watch the trailer above before the film hits theaters in limited release Christmas Day and goes wide January 20.
