Shine America Taps Kate Shepherd VP Development
The Hollywood Reporter --
Shine America has tapped Kate Shepherd as vp development.
The former executive and showrunner behind the CW/BBC Worldwide Productions entry Breaking Pointe will oversee development of unscripted programming from within the global Shine Group and also work with third-party producers.
"Kate's extensive experience as a producer and also as a top development executive in the unscripted field, make her the ideal addition to our growing team," said Shine America senior vp unscripted development Chris Culvenor, to whom Shepherd will report. “She will be working closely with our international colleagues within Shine Group and third party producers to identify potential series to develop for the U.S. marketplace”
In addition to serving as a showrunner on Breaking Pointe, which will return in the summer on the CW, Shepherd also served as a consulting producer on BBC Worldwide/OWN's Lovetown and was senior vp development at Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment and XIX Entertainment in London and Los Angeles. During that time, she developed the Spanish-language series Q'Viva: The Chosen, with Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez for both Univision and Fox. She's also developed projects for Victoria and David Beckham. During her tenure at Endemol, she helped create Coleen's Real Women and was a co-EP on Celebrity Big Brother's Little Brother and Shipwrecked: Battle of the Islands and Wife Swap.
"This is a hugely exciting opportunity to work alongside such a strong team in one of the world's leading production companies,” Shepherd said. “I look forward to adapting the most successful Shine formats for the U.S. market and at the same time, identifying and developing original, fresh unscripted concepts for the company.”
