The show will go on . . . at a later date.
In the wake of the elementary school shooting that left 20 children seven adults dead in Newtown, Conn., Dec. 14, the Pittsburgh, Penn., the premiere of Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher has been postponed, Paramount Pictures tells Us Weekly in a statement. (The actor plays an ex-army cop who investigates a seemingly random sniper shooting in a Pittsburgh park.)
"Due to the terrible tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, and out of honor and respect for the families of the victims whose lives were senselessly taken, we are postponing tomorrow's Pittsburgh premiere of Jack Reacher," the film studio said Dec. 15. "Our hearts go out to all those who lost loved ones."
Cruise, 50, kicked off the Jack Reacher promo tour Dec. 10 in London and has since traveled to Sweden and Spain.
Adam Lanza, 20, shot his mother, a teacher, and 26 others at Sandy Hook Elementary School Dec. 14. He subsequently shot himself. The tragedy began just after 9:40 a.m.
