Proud momma Alfre Woodard spoke to ET about her daughter being crowned as the 2010 Miss Golden Globe. The Hollywood duo was joined by Kate Flannery, Gilles Marini, Kelly Osbourne, Kellan Lutz, and many more of Hollywood's brightest stars at the Second Annual Golden Globes Party Saluting Young Hollywood.
Mavis Spencer, the 18-year-old daughter of actress Alfre Woodard and writer/producer Roderick Spencer, was more than congenial while speaking of the honor of presenting the statues at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards: "There's a long, rich history of people that have done this and when my mom approached me a couple of weeks ago and she said I had the opportunity to do this, I was really excited about it…"
The aspiring model and soon-to-be Columbia University freshman joins an elite group of star's offspring who have gone on to become stars themselves….Rumer Willis, Melanie Griffith, and Joely Fisher are just some who have bestowed this title in previous years. In an ironic choice of words, Alfre revealed that her daughter makes life "golden." The accomplished actress admitted, "[Mavis] is my ticket this year [to the Golden Globes]."
Nominations for "The 67 Annual Golden Globe Awards" will be announced on the morning of December 15. The awards presentation, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will be broadcast live from The Beverly Hilton on January 17 on NBC. Mavis looks forward to sharing the stage with Ricky, calling the actor "hysterical."
