Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are engaged…again. The couple told Us Weekly about their romantic reunion after a turbulent break-up.
The parents of 18-month-old son Tripp rekindled their romance and plan to raise him as a cohesive family unit. Bristol admitted to the magazine that she accepted the proposal without the consent of her mother, politician Sarah Palin. "We got engaged two weeks ago. If felt right, even though we don't have the approval of our parents."
The news comes just days after Levi apologized to his mother-in-law to be. He told People magazine in part, "I hope one day to restore your trust."
Bristol and Levi called off their previous engagement shortly after the birth of their son and have been involved in a bitter custody battle. Levi admitted to Us Weekly, "I really thought we were over."
The on-again pair took Tripp for a walk three months ago and discovered they still had feelings for one another. Bristol said they didn't hug or kiss after their stroll, but, "He texted me, 'I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again.' I was in shock."
Sarah and Levi have exchanged harsh words throughout media interviews over the course of the last year and a half. Bristol is aware that convincing her family to accept Levi back into their circle may pose a challenge. She said, "It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board."
The fiances did not discuss wedding plans. Us Weekly hits newsstands on Friday with Levi, Bristol, and baby Tripp posing together on the cover.
