'Fringe's' Anna Torv: Do blondes have more fun?

Zap2it, Thursday, October 14, 2010, 9:00am (PDT)

Playing two versions of her "Fringe" character, Olivia Dunham, this season, Anna Torv has spent a little bit of extra time in the makeup chair, since one version is blonde and the other is a redhead. Torv confesses that people do treat her differently when she's wearing her red wig."They do!" she says. "I think my attitude's different when I'm in the different places. I don't walk around in character. I try not to walk around with the accent, but those little things change you, your hair or even just little clothes or a different shoe, a different silhouette. People absolutely look at you differently."When asked which universe she prefers to work in, Torv can't decide. "It feels very different, even the shooting, the dynamic even on set because you've got a [bunch of completely different] people," she says. "Even the crime scenes are handled differently. It feels very different. There's pros and cons to both sides. I love parts of both sides." Switching between universes on a weekly basis is bound to confuse a girl. Torv admits that some lines have blurred since she began working on "Fringe," where she's on the scene of a different sci-fi crime every week. "there's always flashing lights, ambulances, and police cars [on set]," she says. "I was driving home from work the other day and there's flashing lights and ambulances and police cars and I'm like, 'Oh, well, I'll keep going.' It wasn't until I got two blocks down that I went, 'Oh, my gosh! That was an enormous accident that I just totally didn't think was real.' That's not funny; that's terrible."It's a little funny.Another thing that'll get her a second look is the gun Olivia keeps on her holster. Luckily, Torv has people looking out for her so that she doesn't get mistaken for an actual cop... or criminal. "I'll end up buying myself a cup of coffee, then the props guy is behind me going, 'Anna, you cannot walk off set with this gun and your badge!'" she laughs.Follow Zap2it and @cadlymack on Twitter and Zap2it on Facebook for the latest TV, movie and celebrity news.Photo: FOX
