"Once she decided to go, she was done." So tattles a Katie confidant to People about how she made up her mind to stick a fork in her suspicion-clouded, E-meter-charged marriage to Tom.
"She no longer had the life she wanted, in terms of her career, her way of life, everything," adds the source.
With help from her divorce attorney father, Martin Holmes, Katie reportedly went to great lengths to plan a secret exit from her marriage. Her primary objective: Gain custody of Suri, whom she purportedly feared would soon be indoctrinated into Scientology.

"She knew she had to have everything locked down before she pulled the trigger," explains the People spy, "because there could be no wiggle room if she didn't want this to turn into a long, drawn-out battle."
Once everything was in place, Holmes made a "bombshell phone call" to Cruise, who was on location in Iceland, to tell him it was over.
Tom "was a happy man and thought he had a happy life," another snitch sighs to the mag. "He keeps asking, 'What's happening?'"
Cruise, however, looked untroubled on the "Oblivion" set this week. Click on ...
