Sure, it's a little weird to be curious about the educational plans of a 6-year-old we're not related to, but when the tyke in question is Suri Cruise, exceptions must be made.
Life & Style reports that Katie Holmes, whose lightning-fast divorce settlement with Tom Cruise reportedly gave her primary custody of their daughter, has enrolled Suri in Avenues, a soon-to-open private school not far from their downtown New York apartment.
"Katie has eagerly been telling Suri all about the lunchrooms, basketball courts and different activities Avenues offers," says a source. "Suri's really excited about it."
The mag says Suri, who was rumored to be following in her mother's footsteps by attending an all-girls Catholic school, will enter the first grade at Avenues, which bills itself as a "world school" and promises to turn out students who are "architects of lives that transcend the ordinary."
This will be Suri's first time at a regular learning institution, as she's apparently been homeschooled up to this point (her would-be path into Scientology was said to be a point of contention in the split).
According to L&S, Avenues offers exactly what you'd expect for the money: a choice of Spanish or Mandarin, a fitness center and a rooftop playground, along with the usual reading, math, science and music.
Suri will also have plenty of material should she be required to write a "How I spent my summer" essay.
In addition to her regular trips to the museum and zoo with her mom, she spent this week at Disney World, where she was photographed on Wednesday splashing around at a water park with her shirtless, gut-sucking (no judgment -- we'd be doing the same thing) dad.
