In the immediate aftermath of the scandal, Sanders' father came to his defense, insisting to People that the filmmaker is a "very honorable" man and dismissing his sweaty, compact car-set liaison with Stewart (see the pics here) as "a lot of fuss about nothing. … She is a very pretty girl and when you work that closely with someone for so long, sometimes things happen."
But did Liberty's brother also weigh in? Britain's tabloid-tastic paper The People quotes Leopold Ross as saying that he suspects the entanglement went on much longer than Stewart implied in her misguided mea culpa, specifically, "from the last half of filming [in late 2011] and all through post-production, clear into last week."
But a source assures People mag that neither he nor Liberty has spoken to the media and the quotes are "completely fabricated."
Still, much is being made of the photo at left, which shows Kristen and Rupert sharing a meal in Berlin back in May. Their chow-down was hardly romantic, however, as it included "Snow White" star Charlize Theron, not to mention a mood-killing unhygienic moment from the director, who was caught on video rummaging around in his pants.
Sanders, 41, and Ross, 33, are parents to a 7-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son, and they recently acknowledged that she basically became a single mother after the family relocated from London to Los Angeles for the sake of the director's career ("Snow White" was his feature film debut).
