"Lord of the Rings" fans, please commence squee-ing. It what we suspect is a case of truly creative fan fiction, Star magazine claims that erstwhile elves Legolas and Arwen, better known as Orlando Bloom and Liv Tyler, have grown close in the wake of his split from Miranda Kerr.
The longtime friends (pictured at left in 2003) supposedly "solidified their affection," whatever that means, while hanging out one recent night in New York.
According to the tabloid, the two appeared "cozy" while backstage at the opening night of the latest Broadway production of "Waiting for Godot," and only got more so at an afterparty.
"When they got behind closed doors, they were playfully tickling, gazing into each other's eyes and holding hands," alleges an eyewitness.
The report comes on the heels of rumblings that Kerr has rebounded with Australian billionaire James Packer.
Alas, it appears we won't be able to use the phrases "Hobbit honeys" or "Middle Earth amours" anytime soon (ahem, that may be a good thing).
Bloom's rep insists to Wonderwall, "There is no truth to this rumor."
Aragorn could not be reached for comment.
It's too bad, because the pairing actually makes a lot of sense. In addition to be suited age-wise (both are 36) and family-wise (each has one son from their first marriages), Bloom and Tyler prefer to live relatively low-key lives.
Plus, Orlando was flat-out adorable on Tuesday when he did a high-pitched imitation of Liv while chatting with Jimmy Kimmel. Seems that while filming the first "LOTR" movie, he asked her if he should get a Mohawk to more easily accommodate his blond wig. Her response, which immediately had him reaching for the clippers: "Oh, Orly, that would look so cute, you should definitely get a Mohawk."
Tyler divorced rocker Royston Langdon in 2008, and has since been linked to scions Theo Wenner (son of Jann) and Vito Schnabel (son of Julian).
