Naomi Campbell out for revenge?
It's a choice every model must make for herself: Romantic island escape with Russian billionaire or not incurring the terrifying wrath of Naomi Campbell? Luo Zilin chose the former, and it's apparently costing her big. The backstory: Zilin was part of Naomi's team on "The Face," and the supermodel became her mentor. Or she was until Zilin, 26, was photographed cuddling up to Vlad Doronin, Naomi's newly minted ex-boyfriend, during a getaway to Ibiza. Faster than you can hurl a cell phone, Zilin's professional life has hit the skids.
"Naomi has been calling colleagues in the industry to try and stop Luo's career," a source alleges to the New York Post. "She is trying to take this woman out for no reason other than dating her ex-boyfriend. Luo was fired by her management firm, and her Chinese agent has been asked to drop her. Naomi is trying to wreck her career. She has a lot of power in the modeling world."
Campbell, 43, began dating the married-but-long-separated Doronin, 50, in 2008, but they reportedly began drifting apart earlier this year.
"They broke up because there were too many ups and downs, and you can only deal with that for so long," explains the insider. "Vlad wishes Naomi well. He just wants to move on with his life, but she won't let him."
The mogul was apparently surprised the paparazzi tracked him down at his private villa in Ibiza, and suspects Naomi might have tipped them off (her supposed motivation for doing such a thing remains unclear).
But a Campbell insider denies she's out for revenge on her former protégée or her onetime flame.
"She is totally focused on 'The Face,'" a spy tells the paper. "She's in London working around the clock on the British version of the show. This isn't easy for Naomi. This relationship seems almost designed to hurt her. She is trying hard to keep a brave face and not to think about it. Naomi isn't trying to destroy Luo's career -- Luo's agents wanted to get rid of her. And there's no way Naomi would have known they were in Ibiza."
