Hospital: Actress Brittany Murphy dies at age 32
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A Los Angeles hospital spokeswoman says actress Brittany Murphy has died. She was 32.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Spokeswoman Sally Stewart says Murphy died at 10:04 a.m. Sunday. She would not provide a cause of death, or any other information.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Devon Gale says crews responded to a call at 8 a.m. Sunday from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, who married Murphy in 2007. Gale says one person was transported to a hospital.
The Web site TMZ reports that Murphy's mother found her unconscious in the shower. Paramedics attempted to revive her with CPR, but she was unresponsive.

Murphy's death is likely to have been due to natural causes, and no foul play is suspected, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's office. TMZ has reported that Murphy was being treated for "flu-like symptoms" and vomiting for several days prior to her death. The Web site's source also notes that "there were a lot of prescription [drugs] in the house," and that no illegal drugs wee found there.
However, new reports from TheDailyBeast.com indicate that friends and colleagues believed she struggled with addictions to cocaine and heroin.

The star of including "8 Mile," "Don't Say A Word" and "Clueless," Murphy had been busy with work again recently, working on at least four upcoming films. She is rumored to have been fired from one recent role for being difficult on the set, but she denied the report in a recent story in OK Magazine.
"Due to creative differences, Ms. Murphy and the production company mutually parted ways," her rep said.
Murphy had also voiced the part of LuAnne Platter on the animated comedy, "King of the Hill," since 1997.
The Atlanta-born actress had shown promise in theater since she was 9 years old, when she performed in local dramatic productions, according to TheWrap.com. By age 13 she was starring in television commercials.
"2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine," Ashton Kutcher, who dated Murphy in 2002 - 2003, posted on Twitter on Saturday. "My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon. see you on the other side kid."

Messages left for Murphy's manager, agent and publicist weren't immediately returned. But a representative for the family issued this statement on Sunday:
"The sudden loss of our beloved Brittany is a terrible tragedy. She was our daughter, our wife, our love and a shining star. We ask you to respect our privacy at this time."
An autopsy is expected to be conducted Monday or Tuesday.
