Madonna, Tyler Perry, Matt Damon and Others Pledge to Help Haiti

Entertainment Tonight, Friday, January 15, 2010, 7:57am (PST)

Madonna and Tyler Perry are the latest celebs to pledge their support to the people of Haiti.

"I had planned to give a private donation," Tyler tells ET. "But then I thought about the people who may want to give but don't have the ability to look deeply into some of these organizations." Some scam operations have popped up in recent days, which Tyler calls "cruel." "If you want to make a donation," he adds, "you can do so to the Tyler Perry Foundation and I will add it to what I'm giving. I can assure you that every dime, 100 percent of what you give will get to an organization that will use it to help the Haitian people."

Madonna is also helping out by pledging a donation to Partners in Health and is urging others to do the same.

"My prayers are with the people of Haiti," she says. "I can't imagine the terrible pain and suffering they are experiencing. Sadly the depths of the tragedy are just becoming known and the need for our support grows more urgent with every passing moment. I have given a donation of $250,000 to assist Haiti's earthquake victims through Partners in Health (www.pih.org), one of Haiti's leading health care providers. I urge all of my friends and fans around the world to join me collectively to match my contribution or give in any way you can. We must act now. Thank you for your support."

The charity organization, Not on Our Watch, which counts George Clooney, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and producer Jerry Weintraub as some of its founders, has donated $1 million to emergency medical efforts in Haiti.

“The people of Haiti are in desperate need of help. Our organization, Not On Our Watch, will do whatever it can and we know the international community will as well."

Meanwhile, ET and the Red Cross have come together for the Haiti earthquake relief effort to lend support to those in crisis.

Additionally, celebrity jewelry designer Raju Rasiah will have several stars wearing his jewelry, which he will later auction off and donate to the Haiti earthquake relief fund.
