Michael Douglas Pleas with New York Judge on Son's Behalf
Michael Douglas hand wrote a letter to a New York judge asking the courts to be lenient with his son Cameron Douglas' sentence after he pled guilty to a drug charge that carries a hefty prison sentence.
"I have some idea of the pressures of finding your own identity with a famous father," Michael, son of Kirk Douglas, writes in regards to Cameron. "I'm not sure I can comprehend it with two generations to deal with."
"I love my son, but I'm not blind to his actions. ... I don't want to see him break."
The 'Wall Street' actor, who says over the past few months he has been able to "witness the wonderful young man [his son] can be," ends his letter to the judge, writing, "I will respect your decision, your Honor."
According to the Associated Press, this five-page letter written to the court is joined by other pleas by Cameron's grandfather Kirk Douglas, his stepmother Catherine Zeta-Jones and NBA executive Pat Riley. Cameron is scheduled to be sentenced today.Update: Michael Douglas' Son Held at Correctional Center After Girlfriend's Arrest
