After the demise of his marriage to Courteney Cox in 2010, Arquette appeared to be in a public spiral, partying late into the night and revealing deeply personal information about Cox and their sex life to radio host Howard Stern. Then, on Jan. 1, 2011, the quirky actor checked into a rehab program and, he told Oprah Winfrey, emerged completely sober for the first time in 30 years.
"I stole pot from my father when I was 8 years old," he told Winfrey a month after completing the 28-day program. "I seriously started drinking when I was about 12."
Although a reconciliation was not in the cards for Arquette, 41, and Cox, he still had a dream for his family: "To stay sober. To just be loving and kind to them. To not have to go to the suffering place when it's not necessary."
