The Golden Globe nominations have been announced and now we have the A-list stars reacting to the big news!
"I am beyond stunned," Sandra Bullock said about her two nominations. "Just to be included in the company of these amazing women I have so admired through the years, has left me slack jawed with awe. It is TRULY an honor just to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press, and I will cherish this moment with all the artists I have worked with behind the scenes, who truly make me look good! Thank you very much."
"Nine" star Daniel Day-Lewis is pleased to be honored.
"A hearty thank you to the members of the HFPA," he said. "I am delighted and very grateful to be included. Congratulations to all fellow nominees and eternal thanks to Rob Marshall."
'Nine' director Marshall also expressed gratitude for being recognized. "We're so thrilled to be included in such a varied and exciting year for film. I am incredibly proud of this extraordinary cast and the amazing amount of dedication and passion they gave. Working with all of them was pure joy for me."
Glenn Close, who was given a Best Actress TV Drama nomination said, "I'm thrilled to be in such great company and it underlies my conviction that the best writing for women today is on television." I know I wouldn't have received this great nomination if it weren't for our writers on 'Damages.'"
Meanwhile, "Invictus" star Morgan Freeman calls his Best Actor nomination an "honor."
"I want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this tremendous honor," he said in a statement. "Congratulations to Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon on their nominations, and I extend my deepest gratitude to my producing partner Lori McCreary, and the entire cast and crew of 'Invictus' for their tireless work to make a film befitting of Nelson Mandela's legacy. Playing Mandela was the greatest honor of my career, and I hope that I have done him proud."
"Dexter" star Michael C. Hall reacts to his honor as well. "Thanks to the HFPA for this collective and individual recognition. I'm very gratified that John [Lithgow] received an individual nomination as well. His performance as Trinity is an instant classic."
"Inglourious Basterds" villain Christoph Waltz reacted to his nom, saying, "Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press who have transported me from the unbelievable into the unimaginable."
First time nominee and "Precious: Based on the novel Push by Sapphire" star Gabourey Sidibe says, "I am super excited and truly realize how special it is to go to one audition and end up a Golden Globe nominee. I'm so very honored to be a part of this movie and congratulate my amazing director Lee Daniels on making such an incredible film as well as Mo'Nique on her nomination." 'Precious' producers, Lee Daniels, Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness, said of the honor, "We are thrilled that 'Precious' has been honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Mo'Nique and Gabourey Sidibe both put their heart and soul on the screen fearlessly, with performances that have touched audiences of all ages, genders and backgrounds. The film has been on a long and fortuitous journey full of so many moments and achievements that are their own rewards, and we are honored as producers to see that journey continue with this kind of recognition.”
Sigourney Weaver is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in "Prayers For Bobby," telling ET of the nom, "'Prayers For Bobby' is a project close to my heart and it means so much to have the Hollywood Foreign Press acknowledge my work and the importance of this small but powerful film based on a true story."
Actress Emily Blunt is nominated for her role in "The Young Victoria," saying of the honor, "I'm so grateful to have been nominated by the HFPA for what really is the role of my career so far. Playing the young Queen Victoria was a big challenge, but also a hugely rewarding experience and now to find myself nominated for a Golden Globe alongside such incredibly talented women is a massive thrill and is testament to the incredible effort of all the cast and crew on the film.”
"Hurt Locker" director Kathryn Bigelow reacts to her Golden Globe nomination, telling ET, "I am thrilled that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has chosen to honor 'The Hurt Locker' this year along side so many other great films. It is doubly exciting to be recognized for my work as a director on this film which is so very close to my heart, and which shines a light on the impossible situation overseas.”
Also to talk about his nomination, "Big Love" actor Bill Paxton. "It's such a great honor to be nominated this morning. I'm so proud of this past season of 'Big Love,' and am thrilled to share the nominations with our loyal cast and crew. A special thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for their support. Your organization has championed us from the very beginning. We really are a family and without my three beautiful wives I would not have made it on this short list of actors so I truly do share this with Jeanne [Tripplehorn], Ginnifer [Goodwin] and Chloe [Sevigny].”
"A Single Man" stars offer up their thanks for their noms. Colin Firth says, "The Hollywood Foreign Press have just given me a time out from my 20 year midlife crisis. My heartfelt thanks to them.
