"I think from the age of 34 onwards has been the most enjoyable time in my life, because that's when my daughter was born." That's Michelle Pfeiffer, who adopted daughter Claudia Rose in 1993 as a single mom -- and fell for her future husband, megaproducer David E. Kelley, soon after. "I really, really wanted to have kids, and I think my desperation to do that was messing up my relationships," she told Parade in 2012. "It was skewing my perceptions, causing me to judge things too harshly or maybe deciding they were better than they were." Kelley, for his part, embraced the family unit. The couple married and had son John Henry in short order. Michelle hopes her kids are "resilient and empathetic." "I think if you can raise kids to embody those two qualities," she shared in 2007, "then they will have a rich and successful life."
