Like Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie became a mother as her marriage (to Billy Bob Thornton) unraveled, adopting son Maddox from Cambodia in 2002, when he was seven months old. "I had never held a baby in my life," the UN goodwill ambassador has said of first meeting Mad at the orphanage. "It was a difficult time for my marriage, but it was the happiest time in my life as a woman."
Three years later, with her romance with Brad Pitt in full bloom, the couple headed to Ethiopia to bring home Zahara, whom Angelina adopted as a single mother. "My son is in love with Africa," she said at the time, "so he has been asking for an African brother or sister." Two years later, the family, which now included Brad and Angelina's baby daughter Shiloh (born in May 2006), welcomed 3-year-old Pax Thien from Vietnam. Pitt legally adopted all three children, who, along with twins Knox and Vivienne, share the Jolie-Pitt name. "I'm always open to children around the world," Jolie said in February while visiting earthquake-ravaged Haiti. "We're that kind of a family. Brad and I talk about that."
