Stevie Nicks sends a letter of love and support to 'Glee' stars following Cory Monteith's death
Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks has dealt with substance abuse for much of her life, having overcome addictions to cocaine and prescription drugs while watching those around her from the '70s onward fall prey to drug abuse. Nicks appeared on an episode of "Glee," and as she tells Stella magazine, she wanted to reach out to the show's stars after they lost their colleague and friend, Cory Monteith, to a heroin and alcohol overdose at the age of 31 this summer.
"I said, 'Forgive me if I'm stepping into your personal space. I lost my godson to an overdose last year -- he died at a fraternity party – so I do understand how shocking that is,'" said Nicks. "When what happened to Cory happened, I was just sick for days. Honestly, just sick. [Drugs are] just so prevalent. It's everywhere. It's worse than when we were young."
