Anthony Michael Hall
In truth, he never successfully broke out of the John Hughes catalog of films (with the notable exceptions of a starring role in "The Dead Zone" and as geek king Bill Gates in TV's "Pirates of Silicon Valley"). Yet Anthony Michael Hall falls into that rare class of lovable loser, because despite his attempts to play tough in movies like "Johnny Be Good" and "Edward Scissorhands," we loved him best as his pen-chewing, voice-cracking, headgear-wearing self in "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club." Plus, he's got the director to thank for getting laid (at least in the movie)! Not only were Hall and costar Molly Ringwald involved for a time, but Farmer Ted miraculously scored the hot chick at the end of "Candles" (and we can only imagine how many girls gave him their panties after seeing that epic bathroom exhibition scene).
