In a shocking move, Amanda announced via Twitter on June 19, 2010, that she planned to retire early from acting. "I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I've #retired," Amanda tweeted. "I've never written the movies & tv shows I've been apart of I've only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play. Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem." She added, "If I don't love doing something anymore I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore so I've stopped doing it." Only a few weeks later, on July 25, 2010, Amanda returned to Twitter to revoke her previous statement. "I've unretired," she tweeted, posting a link to the trailer for the film "Easy A," her last acting project. She later explained to People.com, "I really just needed some time off. … I've been acting since I was 7, and I'm 25 now. So, it's not retiring so much. It's just taking some time off."
