To Oscar experts and handicappers, it was not a surprise when the Matthew McConaughey was handed the little gold guy for his transformative work in "Dallas Buyers Club." And to fans and movie-goers, it probably wasn't very shocking either to hear the phrase “just keep living” or "alright, alright, alright" come out of his mouth during his acceptance speech for the Best Actor prize. But what was surprising? The slick actor hit all the right emotional notes during his speech -- and even got choked up in the process!
Matthew made it clear he wanted to mention the three most important things in his life: "having someone to look up to, someone to look forward to and someone to chase." He said he looks up to God ("He has graced my life with opportunities."); he looks forward to his family ("The four people in my life that I want to make the most proud of me."); and he's chasing himself ("Everyday, every week, every month, my hero is always 10 years away from me.") Matthew also thanked his late father for teaching him what it means to be a man, his mother who taught him how to respect himself, and his fellow nominees. "All of these performances were impeccable," he said. "I didn't see a false note anywhere.” No false note here, either.
