All it took was watching Penelope in "Volver" for Woody to know he needed her in his movies. So he wrote the part of Maria Elena in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" just for her. "I didn't know Penelope from a hole in the wall," he told W magazine last year. "But when she came into my screening room, I was stunned: She was even more beautiful than in the movies. She didn't have to say a word, but I knew: I wrote the part for her, and I never saw anyone else." Up next, the two will co-star in this summer's "To Rome With Love."
