Marilyn Chambers, April 12, age 56: The lovely blond model who bore a striking resemblance to Cybill Shepherd found success as a commercial model in the '70s, most famously as the Ivory Snow girl on the box of the soap touted to be "99 44/100% pure." She answered a casting call for a film, only to discover it was hard-core porn. The film was "Behind the Green Door," released in 1972, which made Chambers a household name (and caused her to be dropped from the Ivory account instantly). Chambers had hoped to cross over into mainstream acting, but it never quite happened, though she dabbled in independent film and in singing. Her official cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage and aneurysm related to heart disease, though she had struggled with drug use at times in her life.
