Before Adam Levine was overexposed, he was a teen with a dream who started Kara’s Flowers in high school. Despite releasing a CD and appearing on an episode of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” success eluded the band and Levine moved to New York to attend music school Five Towns College. After dropping out in 2000, Levine returned West, reconnected with old bandmates Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick and added guitarist James Valentine to the lineup. Under the new moniker Maroon 5, they released Songs About Jane in 2002, which slowly slogged its way to platinum with the help of hits “This Love” and “Harder To Breathe,” earned the band Best New Artist Grammy in 2004 and turned Levine into the tattooed model-dating (and presumably marrying as he popped the question to Victoria’s Secret stunner Behati Prinsloo in 2013) tabloid fodder he is today. They now have three more albums, multiple radio smashes like “Moves Like Jagger,” “One More Night,” “Payphone” and “Misery” and two more Grammys under their belt. Levine, who launched 222 clothing line has also collaborated with other chart-topping artists like Alicia Keys, Natasha Bedingfield and Kanye West. He has since branched out with two clothing lines, as a coach/judge on NBC’s “The Voice” in 2011, the 222 record label (first signing, Matthew Morrison from “Glee”), an “American Horror Story” acting gig and a 2013 perfume line.
