Has Robin Thicke learned the truth behind the cliché of how you don't know what you have until it's gone? So claims TMZ, which says the "Blurred Lines" crooner is "now determined to win" back Paula Patton following Monday's separation announcement.
According to insiders, Thicke, 36, "desperately wants to save" his relationship with Patton, 38, which began when they were in high school. The pair wed in 2005 and welcomed son Julian five years later.
As a sign of his commitment to salvaging their apparently long-troubled union, he's supposedly resolved to hunker down in his hotel while performing in Washington D.C. on Thursday instead of hitting the town, as is his wont.
Sources maintain that Robin "wants to convince Paula he can change and be a good husband," which presumably means no more icky incidents like this one or alleged flirtatious behavior like this. He also doesn't want their son "raised in two separate homes."
TMZ also claims Thicke postponed his tour last Friday to fly to Vancouver, B.C., where Patton is shooting a movie, and "plead" with her not to end their marriage.
During the confab, the pair purportedly admitted that "they had not been getting along and [were] frequently arguing," and Robin "realized Paula was determined to end the marriage and reluctantly agreed."
Thicke, who initially cited throat issues as the reason for his concert cancellations, issued a statement on Wednesday thanking fans for their support.
"I want to thank everyone for the well wishes these last few days. My fans mean everything to me," he wrote on his website. "I'm looking forward to getting back on out on the road and performing in Washington, D.C. this Thursday, and the rest of the tour. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!"
In their split statement, the estranged couple said they will "always love each other and be best friends."
