Taylor Swift's touchy-feely tête-à-tête in Toronto

  • Has Taylor Swift found a new songwriting inspiration? Seems the chart topper cozied up to Australian actor Brenton Thwaites following Monday's premiere of "One Chance" at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Swift, 23, who wrote a song for the movie's soundtrack, hung out with the 24-year-old up-and-comer (you might remember him from the guilty pleasure that was Lifetime's "Blue Lagoon: The Awakening") at the flick's afterparty.

Tucked away in a booth, they were "making each other laugh," an onlooker relays to Us Weekly, adding that Thwaites "had his arm around her back," and Swift "touched his leg a few times. They seemed very into each other."

Their supposedly smitten state is echoed by a New York Post spy, who conclusion-leaps, "It looked like they were on a date all night. It was like everyone else melted away."

Taylor was reportedly introduced to Brenton through movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, and the two chitchatted, posed for photos and flirted (she was seen "giggling and playfully covering his eyes") until the early hours of the morning.

While it's too soon to call it a love connection, Thwaites' face-time with Swift is sure to help raise his profile, which will also get a boost from his role in Angelina Jolie's forthcoming "Maleficent."

Still, at least one insider was quick to downplay the confab to Us by pointing out that Taylor, who has been single since splitting from Harry Styles late last year, "talked to several people [at the party], and he was one of them."
