Jane Fonda talks beauty and age in People's Most Beautiful issue
If we end up sharing even a smidge of Jane Fonda's grace, wisdom, humility and hotness -- yes, hotness -- at 75, we'll be satisfied. The Oscar winner, women's rights activist and all-around badass was named one of People Magazine's most beautiful this year, and during the photo shoot for the issue, she offered a glimpse at what makes her tick.
"Am I surprised by how good I look at 75? Yes, I appreciate the compliment, I'm honored to be called beautiful. I don't consider myself beautiful. But when I was on the outside of oldness, looking in, I didn't expect that people would think I was beautiful at 75," she says.
As for her age? "I feel lighter, I feel younger, I feel a greater sense of well-being. Not what I expected at all. Basically I'm pretty happy about the whole thing."
Fonda adds that "to stay young at heart you have to have love in your life,' and that for her, that love comes from her female friends. "Owning who you are, being good in your skin," she muses. "It takes a long time to get there. It took me over 60 years."
