Elton John Launches AIDS Awareness Valentine's Day Campaign
This Valentine's Day, Elton John is urging fans to spread some love in the name of understanding and acceptance to those suffering from HIV and AIDS. Working with Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, the singer developed a campaign called "Love Is in My Blood," which features various celebs pricking their fingers and photographing those words in the drop that they give to the campaign.
"Now more than ever we know how to beat AIDS. Thanks to incredible work by the AIDS community over the past 20 years, we now have affordable, quality treatment which saves lives and dramatically reduces the chances of passing on HIV," says the Rocket Man. "But these medicines don't work against prejudice and discrimination. It's time to stop treating people who are most vulnerable to HIV as outcasts. Everyone deserves the chance to protect themselves. Surely we have enough love for that." Florence Welch, Kelly Osbourne, Elizabeth Hurley and Jamie Oliver are among the stars participating in Elton's cause. The event coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. (WENN)
