Clive Davis Invited Whitney Houston's Family to Party in Hotel Where She Died
Members of Whitney Houston's family reacted differently to an invitation from Clive Davis to attend his Grammy party on Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The party is the same event that Houston had planned to attend the night she died in that hotel last year. "We're going in support of Clive to show our appreciation of him as he honors Whitney," Pat Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law who worked as her business manager, told the Daily News at the recent unveiling of four Madame Tussauds' Whitney Houston wax figures.
But the singer's mother, Cissy, will not be attending the bash. "I got an invitation to the party, which is the most obscene thing," said Cissy. "I don't know why they would want me to come to the party where she died." Houston was found dead in a bathtub in her hotel room on Feb. 11, 2012, at the age of 48. The coroner later ruled her death as accidental due to the effects of cocaine and heart disease. Davis, 80, recently told People he planned to honor Houston at this year's event by doing "something to remind everybody that her talent lived among us and in so many people." (WENN)
