Justin Bieber is a Citizen of the World
Beliebers of the world, unite. Your Teen Beat-styled superstar hero is morphing into an icon of multiculturalism. Brooklyn's Public School No. 90 recently decided that "God Bless America" should no longer be the kindergarten graduation theme of choice. The school's principal, Greta Hawkins, reportedly decided that using the stars and stripes standard might "offend other cultures." So she replaced it with the most obvious second-choice graduation song for tykes: Justin Bieber's "Baby,” -- but not for long. On Monday, Mayor Bloomberg announced that he and the Chancellor of Schools had decided Bieber's lovey-dovey tune was not appropriate for 5-year-olds, and that a different song would accompany their ceremony on June 20, according to the New York Post. Meanwhile, Bieber seems to be broadening his citizenship horizons on his own: Last weekend in London, he gave an entire (videotaped) interview in a British accent on Capital FM radio. (E!)
