Whitney Houston's daughter and new husband open up about wedding criticism
Whitney Houston's daughter and her new husband have opened up about married life for the first time since announcing they had wed on Jan 14.
Bobbi Kristina Brown and Nick Gordon sat down with U.S. TV news show "Extra" for their first interview together as man and wife, and revealed the criticism about their romance only served to draw them closer.
Critics and family members were turned off the idea of the pair becoming a married couple - because they grew up as brother and sister. Houston informally adopted Gordon when he was a kid going through a tough time at home.
He says, "(The criticism) put a fire in us... The critics can say whatever they want to say... It's like we have a force field and that s**t's just bouncing off of it."
But Gordon insists the romance between him and Brown didn't blossom until after her mother's death in 2012.

He reveals, "We were young. Krissy looked at me as an older brother, and I looked at her as a little sister and she (Houston) treated me like she gave birth to me. She treated me like a son. Excuse me for saying this, but she treated me better than my birth mother. I owe everything to her."
"She made me promise several times to look after Krissy... and, Mum, I will never ever, ever break that promise."
He adds, "She wanted this. This is something she wanted to see."
The couple also used the new TV interview to clear up reports suggesting the wedding news has caused a rift between Bobbi Kristina and her maternal grandmother Cissy Houston, insisting the veteran gospel singer gave the lovebirds her blessing after initially urging her granddaughter not to rush into marriage.

Brown says, "She told both of us that she loved us very, very, very much, and Nick came up and he said, 'Grandma, I want to marry her. Is it OK? I need your blessing to do this. If I don't have your blessing, I won't feel right.' She looked at him and she smiled... very wide and said, 'Yes, son, you have my blessing.'"
And the new bride admits she has also patched up another tattered relationship with her father, Bobby Brown, adding, "We have a relationship. It's a good one right now. At a point in time, we didn't even have that... I love my father more than anything."
