Alanis Morissette is taking pregnancy photography to another level… a deeper level, actually.
The singer, who announced earlier this year that she's having a baby, posted an incredible photo to her Instagram account on June 28, showing her naked and floating calmly in a swimming pool while cupping her breasts.
Her protruding belly sticks out underwater, showing that the "Jagged Little Pill" singer is quite far along in her pregnancy.
She captioned the photo with a quote from her five-year-old son, Ever.
"'You have to be extra gentle around ladies because they are the most helpful people in the world 'cause they make persons,'" she quoted her son as saying.
Throughout her pregnancy, Alanis has shared several photos, documenting her progress, but most of them are far less dramatic than her underwater image.
She shared an image of her, Ever and her husband, Mario 'Souleye' Treadway on their 6th anniversary in May. In the image, Ever touches his mom's expanding tummy.
"Happy anniversary angel husband. marrying you was the smartest thing I have done in my life. there is nowhere I would rather be than in this hot kitchen with you," she wrote.
In February, Alanis announced that she was pregnant on her website in an animated video and song.
The nearly 5-minute song, called "Souleye + Ever + Me + Love = Sweetness," was written years ago.
"The story of my nuclear family in moving pictures, brings us up to this sweet moment," she captioned the video. "[The song was] written, recorded and produced in 6 hours on May 22, 2010 with Guy Sigsworth, on the sly, to surprise Souleye. Brendan Huza helped tell our story. May this song take on ever-deepening meaning as each year goes by."
At the end of the video, an animated sonogram is shown, followed by images of the family looking at a three-picture strip of sonogram photos.
