Amy Schumer had her sights set on getting Goldie Hawn to star in her movie, and nobody was going to stop her ... not even Goldie Hawn.
She got her wish, as the two were spotted filming an untitled movie in Hawaii earlier this summer. But, to get Goldie there took some convincing and some time.
The funny lady spoke with the Los Angeles Times this week, saying she met the cinema legend on an airplane several years ago.
"I told her there's a movie I really want to make with her. And she was very nice. 'OK, honey.' She probably thought I was a psycho. 'OK, crazy person,'" she said in the interview.
She continued to persist, despite the fact that Goldie hadn't filmed a movie since 2002's "The Banger Sisters."
"I'd meet her at different things, saying, 'We're making this movie together,'" Amy said. "And I think, eventually, some people got in her ear and told her I wasn't crazy, that I make things."
Amy helped write the script, as did her sister. Goldie plays Amy's mother in the film.
"My character is supposed to go on this trip South America with a boyfriend. But he breaks up with her," she said. "And it's a nonrefundable ticket and she doesn't want to drink alone."
Enter Goldie, who comes to her movie daughter's aid.
"It's a Goldie Hawn movie and she's gorgeous. Goldie…Hawn!," Amy said. "I don't remember the first time I didn't love her!"
The two seemed to hit it off quite well.
Early in the filming process, Amy shared a photo of she and Goldie hysterically laughing while holding up individual fans.
"Not getting along with my costar," she said sarcastically.
She later shared a snap of her and Goldie, where she said they were "soulmates."
"Last week of shooting with my soulmate @officialgoldiehawn," she captioned a photo of them seemingly lounging on a boat.
Goldie reposted the photo and called Amy, "the new love in my life #loveisheretostay."
