Bristol Palin's newest addition to the family is only a week old, but mommy and daddy are already smitten.
"So in love," she captioned an Instagram photo on Dec. 30 of her daughter, Sailor Grace.
The controversial 25-year-old has shared several photos of her little one since giving birth on Dec. 23. In fact, she announced the birth on Instagram by showing a photo of her holding the newborn to her nearly 85,000 followers.
"My sweet Sailor Grace was born yesterday," she wrote in her announcement, "our family couldn't be more complete."
She followed that up with another snap of her oldest son, Tripp, looking gleefully at his sister.
"My heart just doubled," Bristol said of the moment captured on social media.
The birth of Sailor Grace also ended one mystery: Who was the father? Many suspected it was Marine Dakota Meyer, who had been engaged to Bristol, but the two had split just a few days before the wedding.
Dakota confirmed the speculation after he posted an image of his baby momma with his daughter to Twitter. "Best Christmas present ever!!" he captioned the sweet image of the snoozing baby. "I couldn't be more proud of this little blessing."
Since the birth, Bristol has used her personal blog to also share images and messages about her daughter. When Sailor was just one day old, Bristol posted a note that was written to her by her mother, Sarah Palin.
"Oh, perfect love! The best gift ever!" the former Vice Presidential candidate wrote. "Thank you, Bristol, for your strength and good heart and your love of life. The most important people in Bristol's life were there to witness the miracle of Sailor Grace Palin's arrival last night."
The note continued, "Thank you for sharing the miracle with Piper, Marina, and me, Bri! And we thank Todd for taking care of the rest of the family during this most precious beginning of a great new chapter!"
Things didn't always go this smoothly with the pregnancy, though. Over the past several years, Bristol had been an advocate for abstaining from sex and has done countless interviews about not having children out of wedlock. However, she shocked nearly everyone with her bizarre pregnancy announcement in June.
"I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant. Honestly, I've been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one," she wrote on her blog. "I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. At the end of the day there's nothing I can't do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace."
In a subsequent post, she followed it up by saying that she "made a mistake." At the same time, though, she backtracked and said the baby was planned.
"This pregnancy was actually planned. Everyone knows I wanted more kids, to have a bigger family," she wrote. "Believing I was heading that way, I got ahead of myself. Things didn't go as planned, but life keeps going. Life moves on."
