There is a good chance that Kelly Ripa is sending us coded messages through the books she carries when she leaves her NYC home.
Following her weeklong absence from "Live! with Kelly and Michael," Kelly returned to the show on April 26, 2016. As she left her Upper East Side townhouse to head to the office, she carried a copy of Anderson Cooper's "The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss."
That wouldn't seem like a big deal under normal circumstances. However, right after she was blindsided by co-host Michael Strahan's departure from their show and felt betrayed by the powers that be at ABC, she left her home carrying a copy of Malcolm Gladwell's "David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants."
She was clearly sending a message that she was ready to fight her bosses. And now, it looks like she vying for journalist and author Anderson Cooper to become her new co-host.
We're kind of into Kelly's new coded way of making statements, mainly because it feeds our constant need to explore conspiracy theories.
Once she arrived on the "Live!" set, however, Kelly made use of her words.
"I needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts" she said of her week off. "After 26 years with this company I earned the right. And let's be honest, I know half of you called in sick to be here, so we get each other."
"In that time I gained some perspective," she added. "I always speak from the heart so I didn't want to come out here and say something I regret."
Kelly continued, "So what transpired over the course of a few days has been extraordinary. In a sense that it started a greater conversation about communication, consideration and most importantly, respect in workplace. And since we're being honest, I don't consider this just a workplace, this is my second home. This is a place that I devoted myself to, not just because of you our loyal viewers, but because of all of the producers and the crew who work on this show. We have an incredible team, and we are devoted to one another. We are family."
