Eddie Redmayne had some explaining to do!
The Academy Award winning actor stars as wizard Newt Scamander in J.K. Rowling's new film "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them," and his character has a wand that he wanted to keep so he took it in a briefcase through customs.
"I brought it because I felt like it would be reassuring to have Newt's wand," he said during a BUILD Series talk in New York on Nov. 11. "But then we were coming through customs and I suddenly realize that a wand looks like a really sharp, scary object and then to try and explain it to a customs person, I was like, 'Have you seen the … No?' That was a bit disastrous."
But this wasn't Eddie's only real-life post-production problem!
Eddie likes to carry around a briefcase, but now, it feels like he's just being a Newt.
He shared his dilemma, "This is a case I use in life and now when I'm traveling I'm like, 'Do I take the case with me?' Cause now people are going to think, 'Oh you were cast as Newt Scamander who has a case and now you walk around with a case.'"
Don't worry, Eddie. We know you better!
Let's not forget that Eddie has some amazing style, and so a briefcase is just another one of his accessory staples.
You can catch Eddie in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" in theaters on Nov. 18.
