Say it ain't so! During an appearance at WalkerStalkerCon in Nashville, Tennessee, sexy star Ian Somerhalder confirmed that his beloved show "The Vampire Diaries" will end after season eight.

Oh the wailing and gnashing of pointy teeth!

The 37-year-old told die-hard fans on April 10 that the CW show was ending after next season.

"We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice," says the blue-eyed babe, who has played Damon Salvatore on the supernatural drama since its debut in 2009.

Somerhalder, who is married to actress Nikki Reed, also added, "My role is shifting in the show and we have a lot to do."

This news comes on the heels of Kat Graham's revelation to Us Weekly that she would be leaving the show after the show's eighth season. Turns out she's not the only one!

In the interview, Kat said, "Season eight will be my last season. I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. If the crew can come with me, then we'll be good. The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go, because we are a family."

While fans may disappointed about saying farewell to their immortal friends, Graham explains that the show is ready to go out with a bang. "But you know what, another season is a whole other year, and we're going to blow it out," says the actress.

Last month, the CW renewed the series for its eighth season. The network has not confirmed that the show will be ending after next season, but Somerhalder's announcement makes it pretty clear it's time for fans to say goodbye to Mystic Falls.
