Model Janice Dickinson got teary as she discussed her brave and very scary fight against breast cancer on an episode of "The Doctors" airing today, Wednesday, April 6.
She was diagnosed with the disease in early March after her doctor found a small lump in her breast during a routine checkup. Janice said she has ductal carcinoma, one of the most common types of breast cancer.
The former "America's Next Top Model" judge was very open and candid when talking about her diagnosis, explaining that it affected everyone around her and she's not the only one coping.
"It's shocking; everything hit me at once. My mother died of cancer, so I know how bad I felt when I heard about my mother," Dickinson said.
"My son broke down. Honestly, I haven't cried in about 30 years, and just lately I've been very tearful because I felt fear for the first time. And I don't get scared. I kind of lost it," she added.
Janice, who is known for her tough personality, doesn't plan on throwing her hands up and giving in. She is ready to win this battle. And she has plans for her future.
"I want to see my daughter walk down the aisle and I want grandchildren, and I want to get married with Rocky, my fiancé, who's a doctor," she said.
The supermodel, who publicly accused Bill Cosby of raping her in November 2014, also wants other women to pay attention and to learn someone from what she's experiencing.
"I'm doing this for all women. Please, sisters, have regular breast examinations. I can be emotional and happy and sad and afraid, but I'm not alone. I now await surgery," she explained.
"I use to obsess over image. I'm the world's first supermodel," she continued. "I've been in front of cameras. I will never keep quiet when something is bothering me. I'm a fighter," she added.
"I'm not the type of woman to fall apart, but it's nothing to downplay."
