Ailing country singer Joey Feek and her husband Rory brought Christmas to her 22-month-old daughter Indiana a week early. Rory shared on his blog that Santa Claus paid his wife, who has terminal cancer, and daughter a surprise visit on Dec. 18.
The devout husband, who is one half of the bluegrass duo Rory + Joey, wrote about the festive experience on his blog "This Life I Live," which documents his life with his family. "Some friends of ours from Arkansas, Dave and Nicole Trudo, called a few days ago and said that they were sending a box filled-with-goodies to us and that it was going to be delivered in a special way… and boy, they weren't kidding," wrote Rory.
The singer added, "He was a week early, but right on time. The Kris Kringle that showed up at our door wasn't your ordinary shopping-mall Santa. This one was the real deal ... or as close to it as I've ever personally seen."
Along with the account, Rory posted a sweet photo of wife and his daughter sitting on Santa's lap. The doting dad says that Indiana was terrified of Kris Kringle at first but eventually warmed up to the jolly old soul.
In 2014, Joey was diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer. The new mother and wife decided to stop all treatments last month after chemotherapy was deemed ineffective. The couple have remained positive in adversity, posting their inspiring and heartbreaking story on Rory's blog.
