In a new interview with E! News, Billy Ray wouldn't address whether his daughter's engagement is back on the books. He did confirm that things are going well for the on-again couple, though.
"Here's what I do know. They're so happy. That's the main thing," Billy Ray said.
"Miley and I, we always had this slogan—'If you ain't happy, it ain't working.' Just seeing these—I still call 'em kids—these two kids happy, that's all that matters."
If any of my kids decide that they're gonna have a wedding of any kind, whatever role they want me to play, I'll be there, you know what I mean?" he continued.
"They want me to be the butler -- that's fine. Whatever they choose. I might make a good preacher."
After getting engaged in 2012, Miley and Liam called off their "I do" plans in 2013.
"They needed time apart to realize how much they love each other and want to be together," a source told Us Weekly earlier this year.
"It happened slowly over time. One conversation led to another. It wasn't something that happened overnight. They are both a little bit older and wiser now. They've lived a lot in the last year few years and think things will be different."
While Miley has returned to regularly wearing the ring Liam gave her when he first proposed, Liam told a reporter last month he was not engaged.
He and Miley do seem to have rekindled their close bond, though. Last month, Miley and Liam's sister-in-law, Elsa Pataky, got matching wave tattoos.
Earlier in April, Miley joined Liam for a premiere of his brother, Chris Hemsworth's film, "The Huntsman: Winter's War," where they dodged the red carpet -- then held hands before the movie began.
