NeNe Leakes could be in some real financial trouble.
The former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star owes more than $820,000 in back taxes to the federal government, according to a new report.
The Daily Mail published tax documents showing that Linnethia Monique Leakes (her real name) was hit with a tax lien in late July in a Georgia court. The documents claims she failed to pay $824,366.01 in back taxes from 2014.
The IRS can begin seizing her property to pay off the debt if she does not cough up the cash.
Realistically, you shouldn't be crying for NeNe. To owe that much means you made a considerable amount of money within that calendar year.
In 2014, NeNe appeared on the 18th season of "Dancing with the Stars," which paid her handsomely. She was also a full-time member of "Housewives" and made appearances on "Glee."
That same year, she announced the launch of The NeNe Leakes Collection on the Home Shopping Network and made her Broadway debut in "Cinderella."
There is an estimation that NeNe, one of the most popular "Housewives" of all time, is worth $12 million. She once famously said, "I'm rich, B----" on "Housewives" and that seems to be incredibly accurate.
Last year NeNe purchased a 9,511 square-foot home in Duluth, Georgia that cost $2 million. The home features six bedrooms, six bathrooms and is in a gated community that includes a country club.
NeNe hasn't spoken about the federal tax lien on Twitter, where she is very active (and has no issue talking about money).
