Last year, Paula Deen "gifted" her husband a $1.3 million home. Now, she has it back.
The Daily Mail reports that the celebrity chef was in court last month to void the transfer that gave her husband, Michael Groover, all the rights to their Wilmington Island, Georgia, property. She said the initial move to give it to him was a misunderstanding.
The deed transfer of the 5,646-square-foot home last year sparked divorce rumors, which the couple denied.
Paula and Michael have battled split rumors for several years. There were detailed reports in the past saying that she was on the verge of leaving him after discovering he had an alleged affair in 2013, an affair he denied.
At the time, the National Enquirer reported that Michael allegedly "stormed out of the house" after Paula confronted him about an alleged one-year affair with a "sexy middle-age brunette."
This new development will likely cause more divorce whispers.
The couple purchased the home in 2004, the same year they were married. Last year, Paula said the transfer was a "Deed of Gift," adding that she was handing over the home "for and in consideration of her natural love and affection for her husband" and gave over all property rights.
It was fun while it lasted. As of early April, court documents showed that Paula had officially taken back the property.
The couple also owns another home, this one on Wilmington Island. The eight-bedroom, eight-and-a-half bathroom, 28,000-square-foot estate was put on the market for $12.5 million last year. The celebrity chef filmed her Food Network show at the on-the-market home before it got canceled amid furor that she used a racial slur.
She was again in hot water last year when a photo was posted to Twitter showing her son in brownface. It turns out the photo was actually posted by Paula's social media manager, not by her. "Paula immediately had this picture taken down as soon as she saw the post and apologizes to all who were offended," her rep said in statement. "As such, Paula Deen Ventures has terminated their relationship with this Social Media Manager."
