His choice was a little strange given the situation.
"I jammed a little Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On,' yeah," the "Deadpool" star told Seth Meyers on Late Night.
Blake, however, didn't find Ryan's choice of song all too humorous in the moments leading up to their daughter James joining the world.
"It was like steak knives came out of her eyes," Ryan joked, adding this wife used some rather pointed language toward him for his baby arrival antics.
"Real bad, yeah," he said of his wife's reaction to his one-song playlist. "But, she was a mercenary. I think I just caught her right in the middle of a contraction. She was making jokes the entire time."
The affable actor told the host that being in the delivery room is a "a big moment, for sure."
Seth and his wife, Alexi Ashe, are expecting a child later this year, so the host decided to ask Ryan for some fatherly advice, to which Ryan told Seth to "do the dirty work."

"Having a daughter was a dream come true for me," he says. "I would have made a terrible king."
Ryan even told the magazine that he really wanted a girl, even though he never said it out loud to anyone, including his wife.
"I don't have to prepare to be wrapped around my daughter's finger," he says, adding that he calls his little princess "Shrimpie." "I have been wrapped around her little finger since the day she plopped out into this world."
