One day after she was kicked off an airplane for a drunken outburst, one that required medical attention, Selma Blair is trying to make amends.

In a statement to Vanity Fair, the actress admitted that she mixed alcohol and pills, as had been reported.

"I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret," she said.

"I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath," she continued. "I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry."

On Monday, Selma was flying from Cancun to Los Angeles when she mixed medication with alcohol and began screaming uncontrollably. Medical personnel actually comforted her as the incident was ongoing. TMZ reported that two nurses came to her aid, with one of them propping her head up with a pillow and giving her oxygen to calm her down.

During the outburst, TMZ quoted her as saying, "He burns my private parts. He won't let me eat or drink." She later apparently said, "He beats me. He's going to kill me."

She was eventually taken off the plane on a stretcher shortly after it landed in Los Angeles and she was taken to a nearby hospital.

Her 4-year-old son, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Jason Bleick was asleep with headphones on at the time.

Just a few days earlier, Selma posted a photo from the airplane with her son, saying, "We're leaving on a jet plane. Dad is already asleep. Not for long. Bwahahahha . #fathersdayweekend."
