A spokesperson for rapper Tyga said he's "devastated, shocked and heartbroken" over the sudden death of his dear friend and bodyguard Arlester Henderson, 29, also known as Punch.
According to TMZ, Punch was driving early in the morning on Wednesday, March 30, when he collided with another vehicle on the 10 freeway. The police report says he got out of the car to check on passengers in the other car when he was struck and killed by another vehicle.
CBS LA says the accident took place at around 6 AM near downtown Los Angeles.
Tyga, 26, paid tribute to Punch on Thursday, March 31 with a touching post on Instagram. He showed a photo of himself hugging his friend and bodyguard.
The caption says, RIP Punch. I know you looking down from a better place.
Tyga—who has been in a relationship with Kylie Jenner for over a year and shares a young son with Blac Chyna—may have to lean on his girlfriend during this tough time. Tyga and Kylie have experienced ups and downs in their relationship, but the couple seems tighter than ever in recent weeks.
Back in February, Tyga spoke to KMEL's Shay Diddy about the scrutiny around his relationship and what matters most to him in life.
"It's kind of hard to really talk about that because people are gonna bash—I didn't understand it though 'cause I'm like, 'This person is a really good person,' " Tyga said in reference to Kylie. "And it's almost like, the devil keeps trying to tell me something to not follow God and not just let God do what he wanna do."
He continued, "So I don't really know how to speak on [the scrutiny] because it's just something that I have to deal with. A lot of things in life, you just gotta deal with it as it come, that's what I learned."
"I just keep my faith strong," Tyga said.
We hope Tyga and his friends can find some comfort in those words today.
