Tyga has never been one to keep his private life private ...
The rapper has opened about his on-again, off-again relationship with reality teen queen Kylie Jenner during a sit-down with BigBoy TV on Friday, June 17. In the interview, the "Rack City" rapper revealed that his high-profile (and extremely public, thanks to both of their non-stop posting on social media) relationship with Kylie "overshadowed" his career.
The 26-year-old said, "When you're in a very public relationship like that, it's hard for other people to see you differently than that."
The performer, whose fame exploded after hooking up with the youngest Jenner, also lamented that being with Kylie hurt his career. Woe is you, dude!
"Being in that [relationship], it took a lot, career-wise, everything. It overshadowed a lot of my talents and a lot of things that I worked hard for," said the father of one.
Tyga and the 18-year-old "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star had been dating for multiple years (despite Kylie's underage jail-bate status), but seem to be doing A-okay after the break up.
The music man insisted that there's no bad blood between the former flames, even though there's been a whole lotta talk that he stepped out during the relationship with a bevy of ladies and that he owes his much younger sugar mama $2 million.
The rapper also spoke about why the split happened, explaining, "It got to the point where it was like, 'I respect you, you respect me.'"
"When something is so damaged or something is just not right, you can't fix it in a moment. The only thing is time," he added.
This most recent break up isn't their first (and may not be their last). The duo parted ways briefly in November 2015, right around Tyga's 26th birthday, but quickly got back together.
Both Kylie and Tyga seem to have moved on -- the Lip Kit peddler has been spotted with Canadian rapper PartyNextDoor, while her ex seems to have moved on with model Demi Rose, whom he was spotted with at the Cannes International Festival in France.
Even though Tyga's been dabbling in other damsels, he insists he's single. "I'm enjoying life," he said.
As if the rapper didn't seem smug enough, he also mentioned that the exes may get together in the future when the time is right -- which he says is not now because Kylie is too "young."
The rapper said, "Maybe later on in life, maybe we might come back. She's young. When you're young, you're going to make mistakes." He added, "All of those mistakes are going to be in the public eye so that puts a lot of strain on the relationship. Right now, I want to focus on what I need to do. I just wanted to get back to just me. I think for her as well."
We love that he blamed her young age now -- but had no problem dating her when she was 17! What a great guy!
