The year was 1993 and "Free Willy" was tugging at our heart strings. It was the story of a reckless orphan named Jesse who befriends an orca whale, and the movie has become iconic. But, what ever happened to that adorable kid?
Well his name is Jason James Richter and he's now 36 years old... And he's still actually pretty adorable. Although he doesn't share images of social media too often, he usually sends hearts aflutter when he does.
When he posted a sepia-toned shot to his Instagram page earlier this year, he was besieged with comments such as "Woah," "Still Hot" and fire emojis.
He also isn't shy about posting pictures with his mom, which is sure to win him a few brownie points.
"Love you Mom! #mothersday #mom #grateful 😚😊," he captioned a Mother's Day snap.
Still an actor, Jason has actually made a nice career for himself. After "Free Willy" and the two sequels, Jason had roles in "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," "Criminal Minds" and several independent films.
He actually recently wrapped up filming a movie with Heather Graham called "Last Rampage."
"Getting to work with and watch @heathergrahamofficial become Dorothy was truly a privilege :) #lastrampage #lastrampagefilm," he captioned a photo of the two of them.
Despite his upcoming projects -- and there are a few of them -- Jason seems well aware than many will always remember him from that movie with the whale. He often shares throwback images from his days as an eager 13-year-old child star.
"Augie, myself and @dwightlittle8mm on the set of Free Willy 2. #TbT #90s #pals," he said of one image.
We will always be there for you, Jesse, er Jason.
